Marlan Ferguson was appointed City Administrator for the City of Aurora in May 2013. For ten years prior to that he was the President and CEO of the Grand Island Area Economic Development Corporation having been appointed on September 1st, 2003. He was the City of Administrator for Grand Island from June 1999 until taking the position with EDC. He spent 9 years as the City Manager of Sidney, NE and was the South Platte Natural Resources Manager in Sidney for 9 years. He has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agronomy from UNL and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from UN-K (Kearney State College). He was the NCMA president in 1996-97 and received both ICMA Program of Excellence Award for Intergovernmental Cooperation in 1997 and the prestigious Mark E. Keane Award (OCMA) for Excellence in 1997. He is a Viet Nam veteran and member of many civic organizations. He and his wife Glenda have two grown children, Travis of Riverton Wyo. and Tara Rood of Cheyenne Wyo., and four grandchildren.
