Mayor's Welcome Page
Welcome to Aurora!
As Mayor of the City of Aurora it is my distinct pleasure to welcome you to our unique and picturesque City. Aurora is a wonderful community filled with abundant opportunities for you to enjoy. All citizens of Aurora enjoy the opportunity to present the gift of time and gracious service to our visitors and guests.
At the heart of our town, pause and take a moment to taste our hospitality around Aurora’s historic Center Square dating back over a 100 years as you walk the brick-lined streets and admire the magnificently preserved Hamilton County Court House. The City’s Downtown is a vibrant place of activity with many fine shops and merchants for you to explore. As you travel around the City you will discover our beautiful neighborhoods, well-kept parks and recreational areas.
Many special destinations await you beginning with a visit to the Plainsman Museum where our local history and its artifacts of the past are preserved in a grand way. The nationally renowned Edgerton Exploit Center is the premier hands-on science education center in the state. Continuing on with a stroll along the Lincoln Creek Trails stewarded by the Prairie Plains Institute provides an eye opening start to a new day on the prairie. Not the least to mention is our community’s pride in an exemplary school system where students are prepared for educational and career goals; a state of the art medical complex, and a technology center nurturing entrepreneurship and startup businesses.
If you choose to reside in Aurora, we have a central location for all municipal services at City Hall, located at 905 13th Street, one block south of the Downtown Square. At City Hall you can arrange for water services, sanitation, lawn waste collection, curbside recycling, and learn of the many other public services we provide to our residents and businesses. If you are planning to remodel or build a new home, fence or a shed, you will find all the necessary permits and information at City Hall to complete your project. A wealth of information and resources about the City and links to other community businesses and organizations can be found at our website http://www.cityofaurora.org.
