Recreation, Inc.-The Cellar Youth Center Board met with
representatives of the Farr Trust concerning renovating
the old Coast to Coast store to construct a movie theater. |
| Mar. 15 Purchased the
old Coast to Coast building for $55,000 from Schneiders. |
| Mar. 30 The Board met
and approved the name "12th St. Cinema" for the
new theater. |
| Sept. 30, 1999 Official
ribbon cutting and open house. |
| Oct. 1-3 Showed first
movie "Runaway Bride" with all tickets sold and
35-40 persons each showing unable to attend. Cecil Strong
came on Sunday evening with her family for her 97th birthday. |

| Nov. 10 NCIP (Nebraska
Community Improvement Program) Award for innovative ideas
in Aurora such as the theatre. |

March, 2000 Improvements made. Since Six months
24 different movies, 82 total showings, 6,496 people in
attendance, average of 80 persons per showing, 88 volunteers,
ticket sales of $15,132, and concession sales of $9,684.

| May 1 100th showing of
a movie since opening in October. |
| May 9 Senior Class of
2000 from Aurora High School attended a midnight movie as
an alternative to "parties" usually held. 64 spent
several hours at the Cellar Youth Center and 43 watched
the movie. |
| May 15 A video/computer
projector and a laptop computer was purchased with a $7,0000
grant from Hamilton Community Foundation. A total of 7,625.
Also curtains to cover the screen were purchased for $725. |
| May, 2001 Decision was
made to have a drama during A'ROR'N days. On the 6th, transferred
funds ($4,638.62) from ACT (Aurora Community Theatre) which
had done dramas up until around 1989. |
| June Started a new program
showing a free video mainly for children each Wednesday
at 1:00 for about an hour giving free popcorn and selling
pop for 50 cents. |
| Oct. 4, 5, 6, 7, 2002 3rd
Anniversary celebration, serving free popcorn, showing the
movie, "Country bears six times including residents
from Aurora & Central City care homes. Presented :Leon
& Marian Ehlers with a certificate for attending 151
of our 154 movies. |
